"0,72" (2022) examines mining waste heaps as material traces of progress and possible monuments to human civilisation. Its title refers to an estimate of humanity’s position on the Kardashev scale, which measures civilisational development through energy use. Despite years of reclamation, these sites remain distinct features of the landscape, caught between disappearance and continued presence. The photographs approach them as unfamiliar organisms that continue to change long after the industrial activities that produced them. Often overlooked or pushed to the margins, they hold a record of transformation whose consequences extend into the future. Through these landscapes, t
he project reflects on what development leaves behind and how its remnants shape our understanding of change.
